Clearing the path I should have stayed on

When I was a kid, I had a desire to get involved with the drama productions in school. I was in some plays at West Essex High in Caldwell, NJ, The Playcrafters with my good friend Toni Bull (before she became a big TV star and married Gene Bua) & Van Nuys High in So Cal. Then I made the mistake of putting all that away and getting on with a career in television production and programming. No matter how well I did as a TV exec and I was blessed with a career that lasted thirty-five years, for all that time I couldn't shake the feeling that I was standing on the sidelines watching others - the actors in the shows I oversaw and administered - doing what I wanted to do. So now that I'm not "exec-ing" anymore, I'm joining in with others in my community to keep local community theater alive. A couple of years ago I joined examiner.com to write about theater in Boise. Last year, I performed with the Boise Little Theater in The Mousetrap and this year I'll start rehearsals tomorrow to prepare for performing in a send-up of A Christmas Carol playing an actor playing Scrooge. I'll let you know how it goes.

Getting started...

First of all, this is NOT what some of you think it is so if you're looking for that kind of material, there are thousands if not millions of other sites you can visit. Go there.

A few years ago, my wife & I were watching "Failure to Launch" and there was a scene in which Terry Bradshaw took over his son's bedroom and created his "naked room", a place he could go & be himself. I thought this was a great idea. Everyone should have a place like that. When the opportunity presented itself, I claimed a room in the house and it became a place where I could think, create, read, work, and write. This is an extension of The Naked Room.
